What the day will look like
The Senior Application Developer is principally responsible for the development and delivery of Reinsurance Analytics applications to the user base. Responsible for crafting architecturally sound solutions, delivering detailed technical design, development planning and implementation of new features for globally used applications specifically focused on the client facing activities of Aon's Reinsurance Analytics Solutions business. These activities involved include, but not limited to, spatial development, UI/UX implementation, and other analytical solutions. The person in this role will support the modernization and Cloud migration initiative for applications in the Analytics Solution service area.
- Be an active participant during the "ground-floor" phase of projects to provide appropriate application architecture and assist in making technology choices that ensure project success.
- Play a hands-on role with development teams when applying coding practices to the architectural design ensuring success in delivering a quality product to users.
- Work alongside the Development Team Leads during the development process to ensure project design is being followed, assist in solving issues facing the team.
- Work alongside the Development Team to Manage and own the architectural design of new applications as well as new features within existing applications.
- Conduct discovery and lead software solution development using Azure Cloud.
- Take mentorship from the Reinsurance Architecture Community of Practice regarding the principles set forth around coding principles and other architectural practices to be applied to the Reinsurance business' suite of applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure timely delivery of projects and adherence to project timelines.
- Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications. Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs.
- Maintain code quality, automation and implement best practices.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
- 10+ years of IT application development and implementation experience
- 7+ years of C# development experience
- Other languages a plus (C#, Python, .Net)
- 5+ years of application design and software architecture
- 2+ years of Azure Cloud experience. Efficient knowledge on Azure and its services.
- 5+ years of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) experience
- 5+ years' experience with Microsoft SQL Server databases
- Experience architecting Azure Cloud solutions and/or application migration to Azure.
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools such as Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing
- Proficiency in database design and management, including experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with performance tuning and optimization of applications.
- Knowledge of security best practices and experience implementing security measures in software development
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
