ECO cum WSH Coordinator
Job Description
i) To work with the PM to comply with environmental, health & safety (EHS) laws laws, advise PM on environmental remediation measures, carry out site inspections and to engage workers and stakeholders on maintaining good environmental health standards
ii) Work with the PM to draw up, implement and monitor effective environmental management plans, including reviewing them when necessary:
· Prepare & submit to the PM the Site Environmental Control Programme before work commences at the worksite.
· Prepare & submit to the PM the Site Environmental Control Report once every two weeks.
iii) Inspect the construction site to ensure all facilities, equipment and operations do not pose any environmental health hazard;
iv) Inspect the on-site canteen, worker’s quarters, if any, and dining areas to ensure that good hygiene practices are being observed, and the areas are well maintained with good housekeeping.
v) Identify and discuss environmental health irregularities or potential lapses with the PM, and recommend corresponding measures to prevent or rectify such concerns;
vi) Attend to all feedback on any irregularities and inform the PM accordingly;
vii) Assist the authorities to investigate outbreaks of infectious, vector-borne or food-borne diseases at the construction site; and
viii) Organise campaigns, training courses and other activities, where required, to develop and sustain the interest of workers in maintaining good environmental health standards.
ix) Conduct inspection of the ECM at the worksite in accordance to ECM plan
x) Maintain records of all inspections.
xi) Advice the PM & project team members on the implementation of the EHSMS & implement the EHSMS.
xii) Assist the PM identify any unsafe work condition or unsafe work practice which is carried out in the worksite;
xiii) Recommend to the PM to implement such reasonably practicable measures to remedy the unsafe work condition or unsafe work practice;
xiv) Assist the PM implement such reasonably practicable measures referred to in (xiii) or safe work procedures.
xv) Advice the PM & the project team members on the implementation of the EHSMS.
xvi) Implement the EHSMS.
xvii) Stop the work or recommend to the PM / WSHO to stop the work if it is deem not safe for the work to continue.
xviii) Inform the higher level of management (e.g. Project Director) if conflict between EHS issues & operational considerations at the worksite cannot be effectively resolved.
xix) Report to PM
xx) Perform any duties assigned by PM.
Job Requirements
- Registered ECO by NEA
- Diploma in Public Health
- WSQ Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health
- Min 3 years of experience in the building & construction industry
