A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs (A*STAR ID Labs) is seeking for a Research Officer to join us in our mission to be a leading centre of infectious diseases research. A*STAR ID Labs aims to develop a cohesive A*STAR response to drive and deliver translational infectious diseases research to better health and economic outcomes.
The candidate will be joining the Antimicrobial Chemical Biology Lab, a newly established group in A*STAR ID Labs focusing on the development of synthetic antimicrobial compounds for potential therapeutic applications. Scholarship opportunities will be available for those interested in pursuing further education at the master’s or PhD level.
Research projects will encompass various tasks such as:
- Chemical synthesis
- In vitro activity testing
- Understanding mechanisms of action
- In vivo efficacy evaluation.
- Support the team in lab operation
- Upkeep of consumables
- Safety oversight
- Labware procurement
- Documenting experimental procedures and results.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, biomedical science, chemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering, or related field
- Familiarity with basic microbiology (e.g., bacteria/fungi culture, agar plating, PCR) and chemistry (e.g., reaction setup, column purification, HPLC) lab techniques, programming, and/or common graphics software (e.g., Photoshop) will be advantageous.
