Overview:
The Lab Executive will be responsible for the management and maintenance of the Tissue Culture Facility, Pathogen Room, and Chemical Room. This role includes ensuring the smooth operation of these facilities, adherence to safety and compliance standards, and providing support and training to research personnel.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Facility Management:
- Maintain the Tissue Culture Facility, Pathogen Room, and Chemical Room in a functional and safe state.
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and serviced.
- Oversee the procurement and inventory management of consumables, chemicals, and equipment.
Safety and Compliance:
- Develop, revise, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and risk assessments (RAs) for new and existing equipment or procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and guidelines.
- Manage chemical and hazardous waste collation and coordinate disposal with licensed contractors.
Training and Support:
- Conduct and coordinate training sessions for new and existing research personnel on lab protocols and safety procedures.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for lab equipment and procedures.
- Serve as a point of contact for lab-related queries and issues.
Administrative Duties:
- Assist in the preparation and management of service contracts for lab equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, waste disposal, and compliance documentation
- Perform other duties as directed by the Facility Manager or Deputy Manager.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in life science or biological science
- Prior experience (>1 year) in a biological laboratory
- At least 2 years of laboratory management experience in either individual lab or a shared facility
- Possess excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Organized, meticulous, able to work together in a team as well as independently
- Prior experience in either safety management and/or knowledge of tissue culture are added advantages
Specifications:
- Official Working hours: 8.30 AM to 6 PM (Monday to Thursday); 8.30 AM to 5.30 PM (Friday)
- Temporary Arrangement (6-months), if the candidate is a good fit, there is potential for conversion to contract, and duration would be 1 year, renewable yearly.
