Position Summary
In this role, you will play a key role in the planning, execution, and management of high-impact events while driving sponsorship opportunities to support our initiatives. You will be responsible for creating memorable experiences that align with our organisational goals. In this role, you will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to secure sponsorships, manage stakeholder relationships, and oversee event curation and implementation. This position requires strong project management skills, creativity, and the ability to cultivate partnerships that drive value and engagement for our sponsors and attendees. The role will report to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities
- Design overall flagship events and sponsorship strategies for UNGCNS.
- Leads the organisation, conceptualisation, planning, and execution of Signature events, including but not limited to the annual sustainability conference, awards gala, and C-level dialogues.
- Curate engaging event programmes that highlight key sustainability themes and trends, including identifying and sourcing expert speakers and thought leaders.
- Secure event sponsorships and grants by creating compelling packages, and cultivating strong relationships with sponsors and partners for win-win collaborations.
- Negotiate and compile sales contracts and agreements.
- Collaborate and coordinate with various departments/programme managers to oversee the planning, logistics, and production of events.
- Support marketing in preparing and designing sponsorship sales brochures, pamphlets, advertisements, and other sales materials.
- Provide supervision on event logistics, including venue selection, registration, attendee engagement, and vendor management, ensuring seamless execution of events
- Conduct post-event evaluations to assess impact, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement for future events.
- Manage event budgets efficiently, ensuring cost-effective planning while maintaining high-quality event delivery.
Job Requirements & Attributes
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in events, marketing and experience managing teams and owning a P&L
- Good understanding of sustainability issues and the SDGs, with a keen interest in continuous learning.
- Track record of initiating multilateral partnerships and maintaining positive relations
- Prior experience in crafting programme content for conferences
- Proven track record in securing sponsorships or driving business development.
- Experienced in organising large-scale conferences (>300+ pax) will be advantageous
- Strong communicator (written and verbal).
- Skilled contract negotiator with a track record of securing results within allocated budgets
- Organised and meticulous with project management skills. Able to anticipate risks and prepare contingencies when planning.
- Possess a positive work ethic and determination in achieving targets within tight deadlines with minimal supervision
- Able to work within a small team dynamic and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.
