Job Summary:
The Contracts Manager is responsible for overseeing the review, negotiation, drafting, implementation and maintaining the contracts within the organization. The Contract Manager will assist to build and sustain excellent client relationships and propose partnership engagement models (primarily legal considerations) for strategic partnerships and collaborations. The Contracts Manager is expected to ensure that contracts are properly executed in compliance with company policies, industry standards, legal requirements, and mitigate risks to our company. The Contracts Manager will work closely with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure the successful delivery of marine construction projects on time and within budget. The Contracts Manager also plays a key role in protecting the organization's interests, promoting successful business engagements and conduct periodic contract performance review.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist Senior Management in formulation of business strategies. Assist to build and sustain excellent client relationships and propose partnership engagement models (primarily legal considerations) for strategic partnerships and collaborations.
- Implements and manages the Contracts Department in all Pre and Post Contracts administration and Pre and Post Tender covering Procurement works.
- Oversees and work with the team on cost planning and preparation of tender submission.
- Oversees the team on invitation for quotations, negotiations, evaluation, recommendation, and confirmation.
- Engage various stakeholders to draft, review, negotiate, and implement contracts for marine construction projects, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legal regulations, all terms and conditions are favourable and in alignment with company objectives. This includes analysing contractual obligations, terms of payment, deliverables, and any associated risks.
- Identify potential risks related to contracts and projects, implementing strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Check monthly progress claims.
- Evaluate subcontractor payment claims.
- Attend Client and Project Site Meetings. Meet with Clients and Consultants to discuss project, cost matters and variation orders.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure contract terms are followed and project milestones are met.
- Monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring compliance with contract terms and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Provide legal advice and support to functional units including drafting of contracts, negotiation, and contracts documents administration.
- Liaise with internal and external lawyers for dispute resolution.
- Drafting contractual letters to the Clients, Consultants, Subcontractors on Extension of time claims, etc.
- Maintain detailed records of all contract-related activities and provide regular reports to senior management on contract status, risks, and issues.
- Conduct periodic evaluations to assess contract performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive value optimisation.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 8 -10 years of experience in contract management in construction industry, including experience with large-scale projects.
- Legal knowledge and experience with contracts are highly preferred.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct to handle confidential and sensitive information, and adherence to ethical standards for establishing trust and credibility.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills; proficiency in contract management software and tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to analyse complex contract terms, identify potential risks, and develop solutions to mitigate them.
- Meticulous attention to detail to accurately review, draft, and administer contracts. A keen eye for identifying inconsistencies, errors, or potential issues is vital to maintain contract integrity.
- Capable of prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and managing contract-related workflows efficiently.
- In-depth understanding of marine construction processes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (contract law and legal principles).
