Job Summary:
The IT / Networks Technician is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the organization's IT and network infrastructure. This role ensures the smooth operation of computer networks, hardware, and software systems. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively. Key Responsibilities:
1. Network Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure reliable and secure connectivity.
- Implement network security measures, including firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.
2. Technical Support:
- Provide technical support to end-users for network-related issues, both remotely and on-site.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems.
- Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or external vendors when necessary.
3. System Maintenance:
- Perform regular maintenance and updates on network systems and devices.
- Ensure the timely installation of software patches, updates, and upgrades.
- Maintain an inventory of IT and network equipment.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of network configurations, hardware inventory, and maintenance activities.
- Document technical procedures and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
- Generate reports on network performance, incidents, and maintenance schedules.
5. User Training and Support:
- Assist in the training of users on network and IT system usage.
- Develop user manuals and guides to help staff utilize technology effectively.
- Provide guidance on best practices for using IT and network resources.
6. Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with the latest technology trends, network protocols, and best practices.
- Suggest improvements to enhance the efficiency and security of the network infrastructure.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of IT policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Possess minimum Higher Nitec or Diploma in Electrical & Electronics / Mechatronics / Mechanical Engineering / Computer / IT / or equivalen
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, hardware, and software.
- Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and common software applications.
- Familiarity with network security measures and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move network equipment, tools, and related hardware.
- May require occasional after-hours or weekend work to address critical issues or perform maintenance tasks.
