Role and Responsibilities:
- Full P&L Responsibility: Oversee profit and loss, ensuring financial health.
- Cost Efficiency and Yield Optimization:Select ships with optimal intake and speed to balance volume prospects and port dues.
Monitor daily bunker consumption to ensure alignment with Time Charter Description (TCD) and compare with similar ships. - Port and Terminal Management:Secure berth windows and negotiate terminal contracts, including discounts and volume incentives.
- Indirect Cost Management: Understand and manage all indirect costs.
- Claims Management: Handle cargo, container, and vessel damage claims, consulting with the legal team as needed.
- Trade Route Strategy:Analyze market demand and supply to strategize existing and new trade routes.
Collaborate with the marketing department to consolidate customer needs and maintain trade statistics.
Monitor competitor activities and market tonnage to adjust utilization and pricing strategies. - Service Expansion:Enhance service coverage through own deployment or slot swaps.
Maintain high vessel schedule integrity and provide timely updates to customers. - Revenue Improvement:Manage space and cargo selection for optimal yield.
Develop structured deals and manage open slots.
Collaborate with the marketing team on customer deals and tender exercises.
Implement rate adjustments (GRI, RR, CBR) in line with cost increases.
Coordinate rate quotations and filings with the marketing department. - Agency Management: Oversee vessel operations, cargo bookings, and customer relationships across service rotations.
- Client Relations:Actively engage with key clients, especially during operational crises.
Support business development by reviewing trade route viability and conducting feasibility studies for new services. - Crisis Management: Quickly navigate operational or business crises with effective decision-making and communication.
- Relationship Building: Maintain professional relationships with clients, port operators, and business partners.
- Market Awareness: Stay informed about the changing business environment through various feedback channels.
- Leadership: Lead and coordinate with departments such as sales, customer service, chartering, operations, legal, finance, and credit control to achieve objectives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in maritime business or business management.
- At least 7 years of experience in the shipping industry, specifically in trade.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ability to travel overseas and work after office hours to maintain relationships with key clients and support local agents.
- Independent and result-oriented mindset.
- Strategic thinking capabilities.
- Strong analytical skills to assess situations, systems, and problems.
- Quick decision-making abilities based on gathered information and data.
- Adaptability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong leadership qualities.
