We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Virtualization Engineer to join our client's organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing VMware environments, executing server migrations, and ensuring optimal performance of virtualized infrastructure. This role requires strong expertise in VMware technologies, scripting capabilities, and a solid understanding of operational engineering within ITSM/ITIL frameworks.
Requirements:
- Proven experience with VMware technologies, including vCenter and vMotion.
- Strong understanding of server migrations, virtualization, and resource rebalancing.
- Proficient in scripting languages, particularly PowerShell.
- Familiarity with ITSM/ITIL frameworks and best practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in virtualized environments.
- Hands-on experience in AVM setups, upgrades, and user acceptance testing.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to learn quickly
Additioanl Skills:
- Experience with operational tools like HCS.
- Familiarity with firewall configurations and security protocols.
- Background in engineering operations and IT infrastructure management.
Responsibilities:
- Manage VMware environments, including vCenter and vMotion.
- Perform server migrations and resource rebalancing across clusters and locations.
- Consolidate machines into the rHVD platform and ensure efficient operations.
- Develop and run PowerShell scripts for automation and troubleshooting.
- Utilize tools to process input files and execute vMotion operations.
- Conduct cluster rebalancing and AVM setup, including UAT for users.
- Collaborate with application deployment teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Follow ITSM/ITIL frameworks for change and incident management.
- Address firewall and security considerations during migrations.
- Participate in scheduled and ad-hoc weekend migrations and upgrades.
