ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Director of Technology, the Enterprise Architect is a technical leadership position responsible for driving IT strategy, roadmap development, and implementation of digitization initiatives. The role focuses on capability-driven improvements aligned with business objectives and providing architectural oversight across multiple layers of the global technology and applications landscape.
This individual will collaborate closely with peers, specialist architects, regional and functional leads, and business subject matter experts. They will take ownership of the Technical Design Authority, standards, design principles, enterprise roadmap, and lifecycle governance activities, ensuring continuous improvement, capability enablement, and seamless delivery.
The role requires regular interaction with business functions and senior management to mature relationships between IT and the business through the development of an IT roadmap and strategy that supports business growth targets.
Key Functions and Responsibilities:
Enterprise IT Strategy & Roadmap:
- Lead the development and execution of enterprise architecture strategy that drives value and growth across the business.
- Align business and technology strategies, focusing on the design and delivery of digitization initiatives that enhance core business processes.
- Develop and maintain the organization's enterprise architecture roadmap, aligning it with business goals and objectives.
- Use SAP LeanIX as a strategic technology platform to drive enterprise architecture activities.
- Evaluate emerging technology trends and innovations, proposing scalable solutions that support business growth. Lead proof of concepts (POCs) to validate new technologies and methodologies.
- Oversee vendor and software selection, ensuring cost-effective, efficient architectural solutions that contribute to long-term sustainability.
- Monitor technology initiatives' performance and ROI, identifying opportunities for improvement and cost savings.
Architecture, Frameworks/Standards, Demand Management:
- Establish architectural principles and educate technical and functional leaders on capability-driven design thinking.
- Lead the Technical Design Authority to address critical technical and functional matters.
- Oversee digital demand management and the design lifecycle, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
- Develop and maintain frameworks, business capability models, technology reference models, roadmaps, and proceedings from Design Authority activities.
- Establish standards for application and data selection, design, delivery, and lifecycle governance.
Business and IT Stakeholder Management, Engagement, and Communication:
- Communicate complex architecture and capability enablement strategies to non-technical stakeholders, positioning technology as a key enabler of business transformation.
- Foster alignment and open communication between IT and business stakeholders, promoting a shared vision of how technology can drive business growth.
- Oversee risk management within the enterprise architecture scope, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory standards.
- Advise the Technology Director on the state of digitization within the organization, using quantifiable metrics to identify gaps and align with industry standards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, MIS, or relevant certification in Enterprise Architecture or Software Development.
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise design, change management, and delivery of global software and infrastructure initiatives.
- Proven success using SAP LeanIX as a central system for driving enterprise architecture transformation.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex enterprise architectures, including technology reference models, solution architectures, and infrastructure roadmaps.
- Knowledge of cloud and hybrid environments in the context of enterprise architecture, program change delivery, and capability enablement.
- Proven experience managing multi-lingual, multi-currency, and multi-site enterprise platforms, including ERP, CRM, MRP, MES, and BI systems.
