About You
As a centre-based Early Years Interventionist, you will design and implement an appropriate instructional programme to meet the individual needs of children and families with developmental delays and/or disabilities as identified through the Individualised Education programme (IEP) process.
This position is assigned to the EIC Preschool Programme.
Qualifications:
Advance Diploma, Diploma and/or Degree in Early Childhood Special Education.
Specialist Diploma in Early Childhood Intervention (Special Needs) (SDESN)
Experience:
Experience in teaching children with special needs (0-8 years of age) in a group setting
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Support a class and accommodate the diverse needs of young children.
- Modify instruction and make adaptations.
- Provide classroom observation and comprehensive evaluation for children 0-8 referred to the EIC Developmental Preschool Programme for suspected developmental delays or disabilities: motor skills, cognition, communication, and social-emotional areas.
- Be familiar with positive reinforcement and behavioural management strategies.
- Implement special educational strategies and techniques during the lesson.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons and communicate those objectives to students.
- Maintain accurate and complete daily student records.
- Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress, and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs.
- Assist families in understanding child development and identifying developmentally appropriate expectations
- Assist families in understanding child development, identifying developmentally appropriate expectations and providing strategies and resources to assist the family in addressing the child’s needs.
