Bus Driver job description
We are looking for a skilled Bus Driver who will operate buses and transport passengers safely to their destinations. In this position, you will be expected to maintain a clean and mechanically sound vehicle, follow traffic rules and regulations, and provide excellent customer service to passengers.
Bus Driver duties and responsibilities
- Operate a bus safely and efficiently to transport passengers to various destinations
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving
- Inspect the bus before and after each trip to ensure it is in good working condition
- Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the bus
- Collect fares and issue tickets or passes as needed
- Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior
- Communicate with dispatch and other drivers as needed to coordinate routes and schedules
- Report any accidents, incidents, or mechanical problems to the appropriate authorities
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required
Bus Driver requirements and qualifications
- Must possess a valid bus vocational driver’s license with passenger endorsement
- Clean driving record with no accidents or violations
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test
- Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Prior experience as a bus driver preferred
- Good physical health and ability to lift heavy objects
- Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations
- Good problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
