The Signature Research Programme in Health Services & Systems Research (“HSSR”) in Duke-NUS Medical School is a centre of academic excellence for research and education on the organisation, funding and delivery of health services. The programme’s focus is on public health and clinical service innovation in an increasingly complex and connected world. The major research focus of HSSR is the organisation and delivery of health and social services in the context of an ageing population. The research methods include decision science and simulation modelling, survey research, qualitative research, health economics, and implementation science and evaluation. We are also developing a range of education activities for health care professionals including short courses, graduate certificates, Masters course and PhD programmes.
A Research Fellow position is currently available, and the successful candidate will be expected to perform a variety of research activities within HSSR and Prehospital Emergency Research Centre (PERC), a centre part of HSSR. These include but will not be limited to the following: -
- Lead the design and implementation of projects aimed at understanding health services research, with a focus in prehospital and emergency studies.
- Conduct independent and collaborative research, including designing, implementing, and analysing data for high-impact studies.
- Develop predictive models and machine-learning tools for enhancing emergency medical systems and triage processes.
- Contribute to research writing and management of grant proposals.
- Support research activities relevant to the scope of HSSR and PERC.
- Draft research abstracts and manuscripts for scientific sharing and publication.
- Present research outcomes at international and local conferences.
- Mentor graduate students and junior researchers.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein or as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirements:
- PhD in Public Health, Health Services Research or other related disciplines.
- Prior experience in healthcare would be advantageous.
- Proven track record of academic publications, including writing/drafting first-author papers
- Possess strong writing and critical thinking skills.
- Have excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated individual, enthusiastic to take initiative, and able to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse team.
