This is a contract role, will be converted to full-time depending on performance.
Responsibilities:
- Immediate processing of incoming purchase orders from vessels
- Send orders to appropriate suppliers for quotations
- Negotiate prices and follow up on orders with suppliers
- Assess incoming quotations and confirm supplier selection after approval by Superintendent/Technical Manager or higher authority
- Collaborate closely with warehouse and suppliers to ensure timely delivery
- Provide forwarding instructions to the supplier
- Keep vessels and Vessel Managers informed about deliveries
- Communicate with vessel’s port agents
- Handle custom clearance
- Arrange formal bookings for service and repairs based on the Vessel Manager’s practical arrangements
- Maintain and update the supplier database on various platforms
Job Requirements:
- Diploma holder in a related field/discipline
- Self-driven individual with at least 3 years of experience in the marine industry is a MUST
- Demonstrates initiative and ability to multi-task
- Resourceful with strong negotiation skills
- Tech-savvy, adaptable to working with ERP
