QUANTITY SURVEYOR (M&E)

Job Responsibilities

  1. Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical and electrical works in construction projects..
  2. Develop and manage budgets for M&E projects, ensuring that costs are controlled and aligned with project financial goals.
  3. Perform cost analysis during the design phase to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
  4. Review and analyze tenders for M&E works, ensuring that all quotations are accurate and aligned with the project requirements.
  5. Ensure that contracts are in place with suppliers and subcontractors, and monitor compliance with contractual terms.
  6. Track the financial progress of M&E projects, comparing actual costs with the budget and identifying any discrepancies.
  7. Ensure that any deviations or overages are promptly addressed and reported to senior management.
  8. Review and manage variations to the contract, ensuring that they are accurately priced and documented.
  9. Assess and approve claims for additional work, materials, and services provided outside of the original scope.
  10. Negotiate variation costs with contractors and suppliers, ensuring that any changes are justified and properly invoiced.
  11. Identify financial risks associated with mechanical and electrical systems and propose mitigation strategies.
  12. Administer contracts for M&E works, ensuring that all terms and conditions are met.
  13. Ensure timely and accurate progress payments to contractors and suppliers.
  14. Prepare and manage payment applications and ensure compliance with payment schedules.
  15. Prepare regular cost reports, including forecasts of the final cost at completion, cash flow projections, and financial status updates.
  16. Provide detailed reports to senior management, highlighting potential cost overruns or savings.
  17. Maintain accurate records of all cost-related documents, such as invoices, change orders, and purchase orders.
  18. Conduct site visits to assess the progress of mechanical and electrical works and verify quantities.
  19. Carry out site measurements and verify completed work against progress claims.
  20. Ensure that the mechanical and electrical works are being executed according to the specifications, and identify any discrepancies.
  21. Work closely with the design team, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure the project's cost and quality goals are met.
  22. Liaise with clients, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth communication and resolution of any financial matters.
  23. Prepare the final account for the M&E section of the project, ensuring all costs are properly documented and accounted for.
  24. Negotiate and finalize the financial settlement with the client and contractors once the project is completed.

Job Requirements

  1. A Degree/Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Min 3 years of experience in quantity surveying, specifically in the mechanical and electrical sectors of construction.
  3. Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and how they are integrated into construction projects.
  4. Proficient in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial reporting tools.
  5. Knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  6. Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with attention to detail.
