Assistant Chemist/Lab Technician
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle and manage industrial chemicals safely, adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
- Receive, label, and log all incoming samples for accountability and traceability.
- Prepare samples by drying, crushing, splitting, and pulverizing as per procedural requirements.
- Mix fluxing reagents accurately and load samples into the furnace for fire assay processes.
- Conduct acid digestion by mixing and applying specific reagents.
- Perform fire assay techniques, including the precise handling of reagents and heat management.
- Work effectively in a hot environment and handle tasks requiring physical effort, such as lifting 10kg bars of precious metals.
- Maintain accurate records of all processes and communicate findings effectively through verbal and written reports.
Qualifications and Requirements:ed.
- Knowledge of industrial chemicals and their safe handling.
- Proficiency in fire assay techniques and sample preparation.
- Familiarity with lab equipment and chemical analysis tools.
- Physical Requirements:Ability to work in hot environments and lift heavy materials (up to 10kg).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and precision in all tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
