- Salary Range: $9,000 to $12,000, with Variable Bonus
Overview:
The Group Senior Legal Counsel will provide efficient and timely legal support to all business functions within the group. This role is based in Singapore and primarily supports the Singapore businesses, with some regional support in China, Australia, and Indonesia as required.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements including dealer/distributor agreements, bank facility and security documents, tenders, procurement contracts, service agreements with vendors/suppliers, tenancy agreements, etc.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Identify potential risks and provide legal advice and recommendations to mitigate exposure.
- Advise and manage disputes and litigation.
- Oversee the administration of the Group’s intellectual property and proprietary information.
- Draft and review corporate documents, such as shareholder and board resolutions.
- Manage external legal counsel.
- Track and administer key agreements with principals.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and directives of the Group HQ.
- Conduct training on policies and procedures for staff, including personal data protection, anti-money laundering, code of business conduct and ethics, etc.
- Monitor and audit compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Protect and administer the Group’s intellectual property, proprietary information, and personal data.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law or a related field (LLB or equivalent qualification). A Master’s degree or further legal qualifications would be an advantage.
- At least 7-10 years of legal experience, preferably in a corporate or commercial setting, with experience in automotive, retail, or related industries.
- Strong expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts, including dealer/distributor agreements, procurement contracts, and service agreements.
- Extensive knowledge of corporate law, compliance regulations, intellectual property rights, and dispute management.
- Proven experience in managing litigation and working with external legal counsel.
- Strong understanding of compliance requirements such as data protection, anti-money laundering, and business ethics.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
- Strong leadership capabilities with a collaborative mindset to work across departments.
- Experience in managing legal affairs across multiple countries or regions (e.g., Southeast Asia, China, Australia) would be advantageous.
- The role is a sole contributor and requires an independent, proactive approach to managing legal matters.
