Role Overview
The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services required for FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) projects. The role demands a thorough understanding of procurement strategies, supply chain management, and vendor relationship building within the oil and gas industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement and SourcingIdentify and evaluate potential suppliers to meet project requirements.
Issue RFQs (Request for Quotations) and RFPs (Request for Proposals) and manage the bidding process.
Procure equipment, materials, and services in line with technical specifications, quality standards, and project schedules.
- Negotiation and ContractingNegotiate prices, delivery timelines, and contract terms with vendors and suppliers.
Finalize and execute purchase orders and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Vendor ManagementDevelop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality and service.
Monitor supplier performance and conduct periodic evaluations to ensure adherence to agreements.
- Project CoordinationWork closely with project managers, engineering teams, and logistics to align procurement activities with project timelines.
Address and resolve procurement-related issues or delays.
- Compliance and DocumentationEnsure all procurement activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, contracts, and supplier communications.
- Cost Control and OptimizationMonitor market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings.
Recommend alternative materials or suppliers to reduce costs without compromising quality or timelines.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. - Experience:Minimum 5 years of procurement experience in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on FPSO projects preferred.
Proven experience in sourcing equipment, materials, and services for complex engineering projects. - Technical Skills:Strong understanding of procurement practices and contract management.
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of international trade regulations, Incoterms, and customs processes.
