Overview

Reporting to the Laboratory Director, your duties include but are not limited to receiving, microtomy, and routine molecular oncology tests (direct sequencing, NGS, FISH testing). Candidate will also participate in routine equipment maintenance, QA documentation, and general lab duties.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Receive and accession specimens from histopathology laboratory.
  2. Perform various technical functions including microtomy, basic histological staining of the tissue sections, and general molecular techniques (nucleic acid extraction).
  3. Perform specialized molecular techniques (e.g. PCR, direct sequencing, FISH, fragment analysis, NGS wet bench), including benchwork, analysis, and report preparations for pathologist sign-out.
  4. Participate in internal and external quality assessment.
  5. Assist in the development and establishment of new molecular oncology tests for clinical use.
  6. Perform duty roster as assigned monthly and record equipment maintenance according to requirements.
  7. Ensure proper and safe storage and preparation of laboratory reagents.
  8. Assist in production of regular and ad-hoc laboratory reports
  9. Provide technical guidance to laboratory personnel and assist in the training of new personnel/ pathology trainee / research personnel.
  10. Support research work related and relevant to molecular diagnostic tests.
  11. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Biological/Life Sciences
  • Meticulous with keen attention to details
  • Able to work independently as well as a good team player with initiative and adaptability to change.
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong organizational / time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate, demonstrate proficiency in common computer system and software.
  • Knowledge of laboratory good practices and in compliance with SOPs and regulatory standards.
  • Willing to rotate between the laboratories located at Kent Ridge and Buona Vista.
