Coda is looking for an experienced Director of Global Communications to drive and execute a comprehensive, multi-channel communications strategy. This role extends beyond traditional PR, demanding expertise in both internal and external communications, a proven ability to elevate brand profile, and strategic engagement with stakeholders across corporate, industry, and consumer audiences. Candidates should come with strong, established media relationships with Tier 1 tech and gaming reporters in key markets, especially in Singapore and the US. The Director will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product and B2B Marketing, and support the People & Talent team on internal communications and talent branding as needed. This role is crucial in shaping Coda’s position as an industry leader both regionally and globally.
Responsibilities:
1. Communications Strategy & Execution
- Develop and lead a clear, comprehensive communications strategy that drives Coda’s visibility and industry positioning. Ensure that Coda’s expertise, products and partnerships are effectively communicated to our core audiences: digital content publishers, payment channels, media, investors, regulatory and policy stakeholders, and talent.
- Drive strategy for Coda’s corporate communications efforts and channels including the corporate website, LinkedIn and YouTube.
- Develop compelling content that resonates across corporate, consumer, and industry channels.
- Tailor messaging to address the specific interests of each stakeholder group, emphasizing Coda’s market evolution and leadership.
- Oversee the creation and distribution of investor communications, internal newsletters, and LinkedIn content. Keep stakeholders updated on business milestones, changes, and strategic initiatives, fostering transparency and alignment.
- Align communications plans with broader business goals, securing necessary approvals and buy-in from senior leadership.
2. Media Relations & Stakeholder Engagement
- Leverage an established network of Tier 1 media contacts, focusing on top-tier tech and gaming reporters in key markets such as Singapore and the US. Actively engage with media to expand Coda’s visibility within gaming, esports, technology, and digital sectors, supporting business objectives in specific regions.
- Maintain and strengthen existing media relationships, regularly seeking opportunities to feature Coda’s story.
- Ensure consistent, impactful messaging across global media engagements, adjusting for regional nuances.
- Secure high impact media opportunities for Coda’s leaders
- Position Coda’s leaders as industry experts whose views are sought by media in relevant reporting
3. Event Strategy, Speaker Preparation & B2B Marketing Partnership
- Identify and secure speaking opportunities for Coda’s leadership at key industry events, enhancing brand presence and thought leadership. Partner with B2B Marketing to align event participation with broader business goals and audience engagement strategies. Develop speaker briefs, talking points, and provide media training to ensure consistent, impactful messaging. Support Coda-owned events, such as Coda Connect, to deepen stakeholder relationships and showcase Coda’s expertise.
- Collaborate with B2B Marketing to integrate event strategy with overall marketing initiatives and optimize audience impact.
- Research and recommend industry events for participation that align with Coda’s brand and objectives.
- Prepare presentations, talking points, and support leadership for speaking engagements to ensure polished and cohesive messaging.
- Oversee planning and coordination for Coda Connect events, driving engagement and positioning Coda as an industry leader.
4. Agency Management
- Oversee management of Coda’s communications agency and vendors, setting expectations for performance and ensuring high-quality, timely deliverables that align with Coda’s goals. Continuously evaluate agency output to ensure alignment with Coda’s evolving needs and communications objectives.
- Manage agency budgets and contracts, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Provide regular feedback to agencies, guiding them on brand alignment and quality standards.
- Monitor and assess agency and contractor performance, making adjustments as necessary to support long-term communications goals.
5. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with Product, B2B and B2C Marketing teams to plan Coda’s content calendar and develop content that supports industry positioning, product launches, market education, and strategic initiatives. Partner with leadership and other functions to create thought leadership materials, including white papers, case studies, and presentations, positioning Coda as a the choice partner for gaming and digital content publishers as well as thought leader in monetization and tech more generally.
- Act as a communications advisor within Coda, supporting teams with messaging that aligns with the overall brand.
- Assist in adapting content for diverse formats, ensuring a consistent tone and brand positioning across all channels.
6. Issues Management Support
- Support Coda’s business changes and proactively manage communications around potential issues. Work with senior leadership to develop strategies for addressing sensitive topics, ensuring that all messaging is consistent, clear, and aligns with Coda’s values and goals.
- Create protocols for managing communications around sensitive issues, both internally and externally.
- Provide guidance to leadership on best practices for communicating during times of change or potential challenges.
- Prepare statements, FAQs, and response plans for key issues to ensure preparedness and clarity.
7. Support for People & Talent Team
- Partner with the People & Talent team to enhance Coda’s employer brand and support talent branding initiatives. Assist with internal communications as needed, ensuring consistent messaging that fosters employee engagement and aligns with Coda’s mission and values.
- Provide guidance on messaging and strategies that support Coda’s recruitment and retention goals.
- Develop and deliver internal communications related to culture, values, and company news.
- Work with the People & Talent team on strategies to effectively communicate Coda’s culture and values to current and prospective employees.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, or media, ideally within payments or gaming.
- Strong media relations background with established Tier 1 contacts in tech and gaming media.
- Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills with the ability to craft impactful narratives for diverse audiences.
- Proven experience in developing and executing strategic communications campaigns that build brand visibility and engagement.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines across teams.
- Experience in issues management and supporting business transitions, with a focus on maintaining brand integrity and reputation.
