The Skin Research Institute of Singapore (SRIS) is a world-class research institute dedicated to improving skin health for all. Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine’s Skin Program has an important role in SRIS, focusing on inflammation and skin integrity and led by prominent scientists in the field. Our research covers the full spectrum from basic to applied, always departing from practical issues faced by consumers and people with skin diseases alike. Our work has strong impact as reflected in publications in high-ranking journals, high-value collaborations with industry and successful commercialization in spin-out companies
We are looking for a Senior/Research Fellow to work on advanced in vitro models of Asian aging skin. The role will focus on < the development of skin equivalents that mimic key aspects of aging in Asian skin types as faithfully as possible. The work is a key effort in a large Programme that aims to improve our understanding of Asian skin aging and develop interventions to support Asian skin health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and test in vitro aging skin models in collaboration with other partners in the program
- Communicate and coordinate with other efforts (work packages) in the program
- Regular reporting of findings to program stakeholders
- Support programme manager in reporting and (financial) administration on the skin model work package
- Where necessary, support/supervise research assistants and (under)graduate students
- Participate in general lab upkeep and maintain the highest lab safety standards
- Active participation in scientific lab and institute events such as lab meetings and seminars
Job Requirements:
- PhD degree in a biomedical (or related) research field
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in general molecular biology, (advanced) mammalian cell culture, modern microscopy techniques and image analysis
- Committed to scientific excellence, and with a practical mindset.
- Preferred: prior exposure to skin research, knowledge of microbiology, some experience with R/Python and data analysis.
- Able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment and to deal with time pressure.
