The Dementia Research Centre (Singapore) at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore is looking for candidates with PhD training and a research track record in Biomedical science, Psychology and engineering or related disciplines to support our growing portfolio of exciting multimodal neuroimaging analyses in neurodegenerative disorders, especially under the Science of Learning initiative. We are a vibrant team studying brain alterations in the preclinical cognitively normal individuals and in early stages of young and late-onset dementia in subjects from Singapore using multimodal structural and functional brain imaging and statistical analyses to predict disease progression and conversion.
Job Description
The candidate will provide research support to the principal investigator and team in the organisation, processing and analyses of neuroimaging data as well as using various neuroimaging, biomarker and neurocognitive data for developing advanced machine learning algorithms for disease prediction and progression for dementia-related studies at the Dementia Research Centre (Singapore), in adherence to the International Council for Harmonisation Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP) and protocol requirements. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop and refine in demand skills in clinical research in the field of ageing and dementia especially under the new Science of Learning initiative at the centre. Successful candidates will assist in high value research endeavours and perform a variety of functions, such as:
- Organize and execute processing of imaging data using open source imaging algorithms and interpret results from neuroimaging studies
- Organize, fine-tune and execute neuropsychological testing
- Perform project coordination and assist with data collection, organisation and data management under the purview of the grant
- Perform study-related statistical analyses
- Develop machine learning models to track disease progression using advanced statistical analyses
- Conduct literature reviews
- Prepare analysis plans, reports and manuscripts
Job Requirements
- PhD in Biomedical Engineering or Neuroscience or Psychology and related fields
- Have experience in dealing with data on disorders of the nervous system such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and other dementias
- Experience with human brain imaging data will be highly regarded
- Hands-on experience in data analyses and implementing statistical analysis using statistical software such as R, Python and MATLAB
- Proven track record in research with evidence of publications or other research outputs
- Keen interest in clinical research and hypothesis testing and good critical thinking skills
- Good IT literacy skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
