The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow in Chiba group. The Chiba group in CCEB is pursing development of new synthetic routes that allows for efficient synthesis of biologically active complex organic molecules of pharmaceutical interests.
The Research Fellow will take on a significant role in the development of new molecular transformations utilizing polysulfide anions as photocatalysts for the synthesis of complex molecules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily experiments in synthetic chemistry and catalysis.
- Analyze data obtained from experiments
- Oversee the project team to ensure timely progress and achievement of research goals.
- Submit weekly reports summarizing experimental results and progress.
- Present research updates in group meetings through oral presentations.
- Assist in planning and preparing future funding proposals.
- Summarize research findings for paper publications.
Job Requirements:
- PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry with more than 5 years’ experience in the relevant areas as graduate and/or postdoctoral fellow level in advanced institutions
- Proficiency in using various analytical equipment such as NMR, Mass Spec, IR, UV-vis and Potentiostat.
- Ability to handle air-sensitive materials and work with transient species in synthetic chemistry
