Job Description
The Life Sciences Institute is a research centre dedicated to the understanding of fundamental biological pathways in human health and disease, environmental science and industrial processes.
We promote scientific discovery through creative and multidisciplinary approaches in an environment that is highly collaborative. We also seek to integrate our pioneering basic research with the application and exploitation of new research discoveries. LSI brings together scientists and clinicians from five NUS faculties and supports advanced core facilities and cutting-edge research infrastructure.
We are looking for an individual trained in cell culture, transfection and standard molecular biology assays such as confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, western blot, immunohistochemistry.
The job would include performing:
- In vitro experiments with cell culture
- Standard molecular biology assays such as immunostaining, convocation microscopy, flow cytometry, cryosectioning
- Performing in-vivo experiments with rodents - involves rodent anaesthesia, perfusion, dissection
- Helping out with purchasing items and laboratory housekeeping
Qualifications
Applicant should:
- Successfully completed Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences
- Preferably have prior knowledge in tissue cryo-sectioning, preparation of paraffin-embedded tissues and familiar with immunofluorescence staining of animal tissues.
- Be comfortable with animal handling. Prior experience is preferred but not required
- Preferably have prior experience in basic laboratory techniques such as cell culture, histology, and confocal microscopy is advantageous.
- Proficient in English.
- Preferably be proficient in lists of software eg. ImageJ, GraphPad Prism and BioRender.
- Be highly motivated, independent, detail-oriented
