The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 24-month contract at the Psychology and Child & Human Development Department.
Project Title: Centre for Assessment and Evaluation at NIE
Project Introduction: The Centre for Assessment and Evaluation is one of NIE’s 5 Strategic Growth Areas, and
- Play a key role in consolidating and growing NIE’s expertise and impact in assessment and evaluation
- Provide a formal structure for faculty from different Departments / Research Centres (RCs) to collaborate on research, teaching and outreach in the fields of assessment and evaluation.
- Increase the local and international visibility of the assessment and evaluation expertise in NIE
- Act as a point of contact for parties interested in international collaborations or courses in these fields.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in education / psychology / sociology or with qualifications in related fields.
- At least 2-3 years of experience in research
- Experience in an educational environment would be an advantage
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Excel and Word) as well as different communication platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.
- Qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis in both or either.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
- Strong writing skills
- Able to work independently and effectively in a team
Responsibilities:
This position is to support the evaluation team in its research undertaking to explore and adapt evaluation frameworks for use in Singapore schools. The Research Assistant will assist the team in:
- Conducting fieldwork in schools to collect and analyze information to help schools revise the evaluation of their programs.
- To support and coordinate various research, teaching and outreach activities and work related to the development of the Centre. These include:
- Support the evaluation team with research activities in schools
- Coordinate research activities
- Collection of qualitative and quantitative information and feedback from educators and stakeholders
- Analyze data
- Writing reports and proposals
- Any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator
