Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and talented Senior Scientist/Scientist to join our optical clock development team. This position focuses on supporting the research, design, and development of optical atomic clocks, with an emphasis on ultra-high vacuum (UHV) chamber design and construction for cold atom systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing precision measurement technologies and contributing to cutting-edge research.

The successful applicant will join our Time & Frequency Laboratory and contribute to projects aimed at redefining the SI Second. Key responsibilities include:

  • Working in the design and assembly of UHV chambers for cold atom or ion-based optical clock systems.
  • Conducting experiments to evaluate and validate clock performance and stability.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support the integration of optical clock technologies into broader systems and applications.
  • Staying informed on the latest advancements in optical clock research and applying these insights to ongoing projects.
  • Maintaining compliance with safety regulations and quality standards throughout the development process.

Job Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on optical clock technology or atomic physics.
  • Experience with UHV systems or experimental setups for cold atoms or ion traps is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex experimental setups.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • A proactive attitude, with a willingness to learn and contribute to a dynamic research environment.
