Lead Cost Controller

Role Summary:

The Lead Cost Controller will oversee and manage all cost control activities for FPSO projects, ensuring accurate cost forecasting, budget management, and financial reporting. This position will work closely with project management, engineering, and procurement teams to deliver cost-effective solutions and maintain project financial health.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Cost Control & Management:Develop and maintain project cost control systems, procedures, and tools.
    Establish project budgets, monitor expenditures, and update cost forecasts regularly.
    Ensure alignment of project costs with project schedule and scope.
  2. Budget Preparation & Monitoring:Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to prepare detailed project budgets.
    Track and analyze variances between planned and actual costs, providing actionable insights to mitigate overruns.
  3. Forecasting & Reporting:Prepare monthly and periodic cost control reports, including earned value analysis (EVA) and cost-to-complete forecasts.
    Ensure all cost data is accurate and delivered to stakeholders in a timely manner.
  4. Risk Assessment & Mitigation:Identify potential cost risks and provide recommendations for mitigation strategies.
    Manage contingencies and ensure adequate funding is allocated for unforeseen changes.
  5. Stakeholder Collaboration:Act as the focal point for all cost-related activities within the FPSO project.
    Liaise with procurement, engineering, and construction teams to ensure cost integrity.
  6. Compliance & Standards:Ensure adherence to company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements in cost management practices.
    Support audits and reviews to verify the integrity of cost data and reports.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:
    Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., CIMA, CPA, PMI, or equivalent) are preferred.
  • Experience:Minimum 8-10 years of experience in cost control or financial management, with at least 5 years in the oil and gas industry.
    Proven experience in FPSO projects is mandatory.
  • Skills & Competencies:Strong knowledge of cost control software/tools (e.g., Primavera, SAP, or similar systems).
    Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial modeling tools.
    Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with cross-functional teams.
    Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
