Our Client is in the Environmental Industry. Due to their current expansion plan, they are looking for an Assistant Chemist to join their team, in hopes of developing the current high performing team. They are located in the West.
Responsibilities
- Receive, label, and document all incoming lab samples for accountability.
- Process samples through drying, crushing, splitting, and pulverizing.
- Prepare and mix fluxing reagents for furnace operations.
- Mix reagents for acid digestion and conduct smelting for metal extraction.
- Assist in recovering precious metals like gold and silver.
- Perform fire assay testing of precious metal scraps using the cupellation method.
- Validate, ensure accuracy, and report analytical results.
- Monitor analytical procedures, address deviations, and maintain quality standards.
- Keep records of samples, standards, and equipment usage.
- Support equipment maintenance and maintain a clean, organized lab environment.
- Identify and log equipment issues for resolution and troubleshoot analytical methods as needed.
- Ensure proper disposal of lab waste, including hazardous materials, in compliance with regulations.
- Any ad-hoc duty as assigned
Requirement
- Min Diploma in Chemistry or related field.
- Knowledge in safe handling of industrial chemicals.
- Experience in handing/Recovering precious metals is add bonus.
- Experience and the ability to operate ICP / XRF is an added bonus.
