The Freight Operator is responsible for the day to day operations of assigned vessels from commencement until completion of the voyage. He/She is required to optimize all aspects of voyage performance in close co-ordination with all stakeholders.
Where applicable, the Freight Operator shall provide advice to ship crews on all aspects involved in the optimal performance and execution of voyages. He/She will also be required to analyse operational data to help improve inefficiencies and to improve process and practices within the Operations Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with Chartering team during pre-fixture with all relevant information exchanges in
order to ensure smooth and efficient vessel/cargo operations. - Handle day-to-day operation of assigned vessels.
- Calculate and arrange charter hire, sea freights, port disbursement, payments for – insurance
premiums, etc., all relevant 3rd party payments/ refunds relevant to the voyage - Communicate with Master and other parties concerning operational matters as and when
required - Maintain an efficient line of communication between chartered vessels and office at all times.
- Analyse risk management data.
- Assess viability of workflow improvements.
- Coordinate day-to-day fleet operational activities under supervision.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with clients.
- Manage compliance with risk management frameworks, policies and processes.
- Manage contracts with shipowners, cargo owners and brokers.
- Manage information exchange between clients and internal stakeholders.
- Manage issues arising from servicing client accounts.
- Monitor vessel schedules.
- Support compliance department in ensuring ship operations are in compliance with internal
company procedures.
Requirements
- Preferably Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Maritime Studies.
- Min 3 years experience in dry bulk shipping-related business with exposure to
cargo operations. - Good communicator with good English both written and spoken.
- Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office.
