We are currently recruiting a Research Assistant to work in translational respiratory research investigating infectious and immune consequences in chronic inflammatory lung diseases such as asthma, COPD and bronchiectasis. The individual should have a track record in molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA extractions & RT- PCRs. and should be comfortable in handling patient derived specimens. The individual should be able to work independently, multi-task & work collaboratively in a cross-disciplinary research environment.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with an international and multidisciplinary team of investigators including close collaborations with respiratory and infectious disease clinicians nationally and the other schools within the wider NTU community where the lab already has existing collaborative projects.

Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory:
- Ensure that lab is adequately stocked with clean glassware, chemicals, etc. required for experiments
- To operate and maintain microbiome & other lab equipment
- To perform biological sample processing, DNA extractions, PCRs, basic microbiological techniques
- To perform daily lab management tasks such as inventory of supplies and samples, preparing sample processing media and solutions, ordering supplies and stocks, general housekeeping
- Ensure that standard operating procedures and safety regulations are followed
- To perform other related duties
Administrative:
- Maintain a systematic record of all purchases & track sources of funding
- Liaise with vendors and administrative office to ensure proper purchase requisitions, goods delivery and prompt payment of supplies
- To prepare lab for safety audits and maintain and update lab safety folder and inventories
- To assist post docs with conducting research studies by preparing sample packs, study questionnaires etc., coordinate and work closely with research teams from multiple sites across Singapore
Key Requirements:
- Degree in life sciences or equivalent in any relevant field of molecular biology
- Expertise in molecular and microbiological laboratory techniques
- Basic level Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently / develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details/ excellent organizational / time management skills
