Dormitory Supervisor Job Description:


The Dormitory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and management of a dormitory or residential hall. They ensure a safe, supportive, and engaging living environment for students, promoting a sense of community and adherence to campus policies and regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Supervision and Leadership:

• Supervise Resident Advisors (RAs) and other residential staff.

• Provide leadership and guidance to RAs, supporting their professional development and ensuring they fulfill their roles effectively.

• Foster a positive and inclusive community atmosphere within the dormitory.


2. Resident Support:

• Serve as a resource and point of contact for residents on issues related to housing, community standards, and campus resources.

• Address resident concerns, conflicts, and emergencies promptly and appropriately.

• Coordinate and facilitate resident meetings, programs, and activities to promote community building.


3. Safety and Security:

• Ensure the safety and security of residents by implementing and enforcing dormitory policies and procedures.

• Respond to emergencies and incidents within the dormitory, coordinating with campus security and other relevant personnel as necessary.

• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance checks to identify and address safety hazards.


4. Administrative Duties:

• Maintain accurate records related to resident occupancy, incidents, and programming.

• Assist in the selection, training, and evaluation of RAs and other residential staff.

• Manage dormitory budgets, ensuring responsible fiscal management.


5. Community Standards and Enforcement:

• Enforce campus and dormitory policies, addressing violations and implementing appropriate sanctions.

• Educate residents on community standards, rights, and responsibilities.

• Promote a culture of respect, diversity, and inclusion within the dormitory.


Qualifications:


• Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or related field (preferred).

• Prior experience in residential life, student affairs, or related field.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to handle and resolve conflicts effectively.

• Knowledge of student development theory and practices.

• Understanding of safety and security protocols in a residential setting.
