Job Purpose
To assist Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery department (CTVS) surgeons in facilitating the coordination of pre-operative and post-operative workflow of all surgery patients.
Job Responsibilities
- Provision of all pre-operative matters and be the point of contact for patients going for surgery and after clinic consultation.
- Prepare and educate patients on what happens before, during and after surgery.
- Detailed and comprehensive counseling for the type of surgery involved, and consumables and implants used.
- Assist to coordinate the listing of the patient’s surgery based on the joint assessment with the surgeon of the patient’s condition.
- Answer patient queries on the surgery.
- Coordinate pre-admission planning and provide counselling to patients and relatives.
- Collaborate with operating theatres (Main OT, Medical centre OT, Hospital OT, Angiography centres and Diagnostic imaging centre) in listing of surgical procedures with optimization of surgeons’ and theatres’ resources and time management.
- Works with Vascular specialty nurse (Vascular Access) to ensure seamless patient coordination for clinic visits and procedures.
- Assist surgeons in ensuring prompt referrals are done.
- Facilitate smooth workflow between outpatient clinics, wards and operating theatres to assist patient flow throughout the whole hospital cluster (including polyclinic referral cases).
- Assist vascular division head to ensure that junior doctors rotated through the division are kept updated on requirements and information related to the division. Example: surgical codes and workflow of listings of patients.
- Assume any additional responsibilities as assigned by Vascular Surgeons and Case Manager of the Department of CTVS including but not limited to:
- Take minutes for monthly Vascular Division meeting and ad hoc Vascular meetings.
- Morbidity audits.
- Assist surgeons to keep track of workload numbers.
- Support events/ seminars for CTVS when required.
- Work with aortic database entry staff for proper tracking and collection of peri-operative data.
- AVF tracking/ diabetic foot tracking.
Requirements
• Min Bachelor of Nursing
• Min 5 to 6 years of clinical experience in Acute / Operating Theatre/ Intensive Care Unit
