Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Consultant Quantity Surveying: Provide a comprehensive range of Quantity Surveying services from project inception through to completion.
  • Cost Estimation: Prepare pre-contract cost estimates, cost plans, budget studies, and project cash flows.
  • Measurement: Conduct measurement (taking off quantities) for all structural and architectural elements.
  • Tender Documentation: Prepare tender and contract documents.
  • Tendering Process: Manage the tendering process and evaluate tenders.
  • Post-Contract Administration: Oversee post-contract administration, including:Valuation of progress payments
    Review of variation requests
    Variation assessments
    Financial review reports
  • Final Accounts: Finalize project accounts upon completion.
  • Meetings: Attend project and site meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Education: Recognised Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Building, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years of relevant QS experience with both private and public sector clients. Familiarity with SIA and PSSCOC forms of contract is preferred.
  • Consultancy Experience: Experience gained from a consultancy firm will be an advantage.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong technical knowledge in measurement, cost estimating, and construction technology.
  • Contract Administration: Understanding of professional practice and contract administration processes.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • IT Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Cost X, and other related software.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage multiple ongoing projects/assignments.
  • Problem Solving: Possess a clear and analytical approach to problem-solving, with strong decision-making abilities.
  • Independence and Responsibility: Resourceful, independent, responsible, and able to thrive in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
