Specialist Consultant for Specialty Fats (1 year contract)

An exciting Specialist Consultant for Specialty Fats opportunity with a leading global agribusiness group.

Contract: 1-year, extendable
Location: Fully remote, global

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market & Trend Analysis: Identify global and regional food industry trends and provide strategic advice on how to incorporate these trends into products and services.
  • Product Development & R&D Advisory: Offer expert guidance on improving specialty fats across multiple areas, including safety, quality, flavor, nutrition, and sustainability. Stay updated on the latest R&D trends and suggest innovative improvements.
  • Training & Troubleshooting: Conduct training sessions on trends, lipid technology, and ingredients for staff and clients. Troubleshoot specific technical issues as needed.
  • Bakery Fats: Advise on formulation design, fat crystallization, and application properties. Enhance bakery fat flavours using innovative techniques (e.g., fermentation, enzymatic technologies) to retain flavour post-baking.
  • Nutrition Lipids: Lead research on enzymatically structured lipids, optimizing lipid structures for enhanced nutritional value. Guide studies at various levels, including cell cultures, animal models, and clinical trials. Advise on the development of medical nutrition and dietary supplements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Confectionery Fats: Provide expertise in chocolate fat development, focusing on fat crystallization, texture, and quality. Optimize chocolate formulations and advise on cocoa processing and quality control.
  • Frying Fats & Oils: Offer holistic solutions for the food industry to improve the sensory quality and shelf-life of fried foods. Enhance oil stability and reduce off-flavours in frying fats. Share best practices with leading industry clients.

Key Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Food Science or a related field.
  • Minimum 18-20 years of experience, focusing on one or more of the following areas: bakery fats, nutrition lipids, confectionery fats, and frying oils.
  • Strong industrial R&D experience or a technical/production background, particularly in specialty fats or similar products.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English.
  • A flexible, approachable, and innovative mindset with a passion for finding creative solutions in a rapidly evolving industry.
  • Ability to travel to global production sites.
