Key Responsibilities:
- Perform boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys for various construction projects (roads, buildings, utilities, etc.).
- Determine and record land features, distances, and elevations on construction sites, ensuring all data is accurately collected and documented.
- Operate advanced surveying instruments such as Total Stations, GPS (Global Positioning Systems), levels, and laser scanners to collect field data.
- Review and analyze survey data for consistency and accuracy; create detailed survey reports, drawings, and maps based on the information gathered.
- Assist in the creation of detailed site plans and construction drawings, ensuring all measurements align with the project specifications.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to provide timely and accurate survey information for project planning and execution.
- Ensure that construction is progressing according to plan by regularly measuring and confirming on-site layout, elevations, and alignment.
- Make sure that all survey work complies with relevant local, state, and national building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Ensure all surveying equipment is well-maintained, calibrated, and ready for fieldwork.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Land Surveyor in the construction industry.
- Proficient with survey equipment (Total Stations, GPS, levels, and laser scanning devices).
- Skilled in AutoCAD, GIS software, or other surveying software for data analysis and drawing generation.
- Knowledge of surveying principles, standards, and best practices within the construction industry.
- Familiarity with local land use regulations, zoning laws, and construction codes.
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification preferred or working toward certification.
- Strong proficiency in mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry for calculating land measurements and elevations.
- Ability to identify discrepancies or errors in data and work to resolve them.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and document survey findings.
- Experience with drone surveying, 3D laser scanning, and modern technologies in land surveying.
- Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software for creating detailed designs.
- Experience with construction site layout and monitoring construction processes.
- Ability to work in remote or challenging environments.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
