Overview of Role
This position reports directly to the Team Leader, Oil Operations, and plays an integral role within the Operations team.
Main Responsibilities
- Supervise daily desk operations, ensuring efficient coordination and flawless execution.
- Manage all operational aspects of physical trading books, guaranteeing trades are executed accurately and cost-effectively while adhering to contractual obligations.
- Identify, evaluate, and address operational and business risks, proactively preventing potential challenges to the Company/Group's success or growth, and escalating critical matters as necessary.
- Provide regular updates on operational processes to the Regional Head of Operations as part of the role’s core functions.
- Enhance trader strategies by utilizing expertise in product movement and leveraging external relationships, addressing delivery and supply concerns effectively, and resolving transportation issues promptly.
- Validate product movement reconciliations and develop proficiency in conducting Loss Control investigations.
- Cultivate the ability to evaluate risks (technical, contractual, and operational) linked to non-standard contracts, emerging markets, and long-term tenders.
- Take on additional tasks assigned by the Team Leader as needed.
Profile
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and experience:
- A minimum of 2-3 years of practical experience in vessel and cargo operations (preferably in the Petrochemical sector), including engagement with ports/terminals, agents, cargo inspectors, vetting processes, chartering, and ship shore compatibility.
- Exceptional attention to detail coupled with strong analytical capabilities.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Mandarin, enabling effective communication with stakeholders.
- A strong drive and enthusiasm for learning and acquiring new skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong time management abilities, and adaptability to dynamic and evolving situations.
- A team-oriented approach with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
