Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Data Governance Analyst (RMG) to manage projects on Data Quality, Data Discoverability, Data Ownership and Data Access for a reputable bank.
Mandatory Skill-set
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Banking, or a related field;
- At least 3 to 5 years of proven experience in data issue management and data profiling within the banking industry;
- Demonstrated experience working as a Business Analyst, and understanding of banking products and processes;
- Strong hands-on expertise in SQL;
- Solid understanding of data quality principles;
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify and clearly explain complex data issues;
- Proficient in creating well-structured presentations with clear narratives and data analysis tailored to various audiences;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, understanding business needs, and driving initiatives and cross-functional collaboration forward;
- Adaptable and thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure, and ambiguous environment, with a strong sense of intellectual curiosity.
Desired Skill-set
- Hands-on experience in Python.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and drive measurable improvements in data quality across the organization;
- Oversee the tracking and resolution of data issues by ensuring proper follow-up, regular status reporting, and timely resolution of issues raised in the Data Issues Log which includes managing both local (Singapore) and overseas locations;
- Define and document key data attributes and establish clear data quality requirements, ensuring these attributes meet operational and strategic needs;
- Ensure that the data is fit for use, both for day-to-day operations and long-term strategic objectives, by maintaining high data quality standards;
- Foster and drive collaboration across various departments, ensuring all relevant teams are aligned on Data Governance matters and support data management efforts;
- Organize and host regular Data Quality forums which includes preparing meeting materials and representing the team at Group-level Data Issue meetings to discuss and resolve data challenges;
- Lead discussions across departments to address and resolve ongoing data issues, ensuring that proper solutions are implemented and data quality is continuously improved;
- Collaborate with stakeholders to review, improve, and optimize the processes and reports used to monitor data quality across the organization;
- Participate in discussions around data ownership and ensure that follow-ups are made to ensure accountability for data quality across departments;
- Assist in reviewing and setting up appropriate data access for users, ensuring that access control policies align with data governance standards;
- Lead annual data management reviews, including BCBS239 (Basel Committee on Banking Supervision's principles for effective risk data aggregation), to ensure data practices adhere to regulatory and internal requirements.
