Responsibilities
- Fill prescriptions: Pharmacists fill prescriptions based on a doctor's instructions. They also check for allergies and other medications to ensure the prescription is safe.
- Educate patients: Pharmacists advise patients on how to use, store, and take their medications. They also provide information about side effects and risks.
- Provide vaccinations: Pharmacists may administer vaccinations, such as the flu shot.
- Provide general health advice: Pharmacists may advise patients on healthy lifestyles, such as exercise and stress management.
- Research new medications: Pharmacists may research new drugs or run clinical trials.
- Manage stock: Pharmacists may manage stock levels and ensure medications are not expired.
- Train staff: Pharmacists may supervise and train pharmacy technicians and interns.
- Communicate with other healthcare professionals: Pharmacists communicate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers.
