The Senior Cost Accountant collaborates with business units to manage inventory, manufacturing costs, product profitability and cost accounting processes. The role is also responsible for financial planning and analysis activities, support business units in budgeting and forecasting exercises and analyze financial data to facilitate business decisions. This is a business partnering role.
Job Responsibilities
Cost Accounting and Inventory Management
- Responsible for accurate processing of month end journals (COGS and inventory related), perform accounts reconciliation, maintain and reconcile inventory ledgers, perform cost variances analysis and accruals including excess and obsolete (E&O) reserve analysis.
- Assist with preparation of month-end and quarter-end management reports (eg flux analysis).
- Support annual standard cost reroll/revaluation exercises and perform cost simulation
- Perform ad-hoc standard costs update as needed
- Review and ensure inventory transactions are approved and performed in accordance with Finance policies and procedures
- Support and lead quarterly review of plant excess inventory and E&O reserve
- Assists with annual physical counts and daily cycle counts activities, including preparation, cutoffs, audit of counts, reconciliations and publish count accuracy reports.
- Analyze manufacturing overhead data and provides explanations for the cost variances.
- Prepare and publish weekly sales and gross margin analysis, inventory report, manufacturing costs analysis, work order variances and dashboard to business units.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering and supply chain, to analyze cost data and drive business in cost improvement initiatives.
- Report and review gross margins analysis by key customers and product group, partnering with business to identify opportunities for margin improvement, review product cost structures to ensure profitability and competitiveness.
- Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of cost management strategies.
- Support global team to develop and implement effective costing methodologies and processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)
- Lead annual operating plan (AOP/budget) for Singapore manufacturing plant, align budgets with organizational and global goals.
- Support budgeting and financial planning activities by providing cost-related insights.
- Work with business units on resources and capacity planning for manufacturing costs budget.
- Participate in the quarterly business review, perform cost variances analysis against forecast.
- Provide detailed cost reports and forecasts, identifying trends and proposing strategies to minimize cost variances
Others
- Maintain strong internal controls and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations.
- Assist with US GAAP, SOX, tax and statutory audits.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency and eliminate non-value added activities.
- Partner with IT to resolve and enhance costing system functionalities related to production, purchasing and etc
Requirements
- Recognized degree, ACCA graduate or other equivalent professional accounting qualification
- 5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing or supply chain environment
- Strong cost accounting knowledge and analytical skills
- Independent, mature, self-motivated and possess ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, other data analysis tools and ERP systems (eg Oracle)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to collaborate across departments
- High attention to details, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
