We are seeking a highly motivated individual ready to lead a dynamic research team and address fundamental biological problems. The Natural Sciences and Science Education (NSSE) at the National Institute of Education in Singapore is committed to discovery and innovation in science and science education. Research by biologists, chemists and physicists in NSSE is centred on many areas of current cutting-edge science, both basic and applied. The NSSE invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor up to Associate Professor (with tenure) position in Physics. The position is available from January 2025 onwards.

Requirements

· A basic degree in Physics or Science and Engineering related subjects and a PhD in Physics

· Be able to teach undergraduate and postgraduate Physics courses in English

· Good track record of publication in top-tier, peer-reviewed international journals and/or highly cited publications

· Post-doctoral research experience and prior teaching experience at undergraduate/graduate level are desirable for Assistant Professor position and are must for Associate Professor position.

Responsibilities

- They will also be supervising students in physics projects (BSc, MSc and PhD), practicum attachments and course assignments

- They will also be expected to publish in top-tier, peer-reviewed international education journals and offer in service courses, consultancy and professional services to schools, the Ministry of Education, and other public education-related organizations upon request.

Successful candidates will be assigned a teaching and research mentor. The current areas of physics research are molecular physics, plasma physics, quantum physics, lasers and optics, nuclear physics, spintronics, materials science and physics education. However, candidates are encouraged to develop new research programs and courses in areas of their interest.

The Humanities and Social Studies Education (HSSE) Department at NIE/NTU combines the expertise of scholars and experienced education specialists in history, geography and social studies to deliver impactful research and teacher education programmes. Overview

The Asian Languages and Cultures (ALC) at the National Institute of Education in Singapore comprises the Chinese, Malay, and Tamil Divisions. ALC’s vision is to work towards the mission of NIE and establish ALC as a Centre of Excellence for Chinese, Malay and Tamil Languages, Literature, Culture and Education.
