Role Overview

As the Assistant Accounting Manager, you will manage the accounting functions for a group of companies, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and supporting management with financial reporting. You will also participate in special projects related to business growth and accounting system improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Statements: Prepare both group and individual company financial statements in line with IFRS and SFRS.
• Audit and Tax Compliance: Coordinate with auditors to resolve audit issues. Prepare GST reports, review tax computations, and liaise with tax agents.
• Management Reporting: Compile and submit periodic management reports.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Prepare annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
• Bookkeeping: Handle full sets of accounts for certain companies.
• Cost Management: Oversee manpower and administrative expenses for specific companies.
• Agency Business Oversight: Manage the accounting for the Group’s agency business.
• Support Projects: Assist the Group Accounting Manager and participate in ad hoc projects.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or a similar field.
• Experience: At least 2 years of relevant experience, with audit experience being essential.
• Skills: Strong bookkeeping & analysis skills, excellent interpersonal communication, and fluency in English (both written and spoken).

Job Purpose:

• Manage financial accounting for companies within the Singapore Group.
• Coordinate with shared services for day-to-day finance operations, ensuring accurate accounting records and timely reporting.

Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting:

• Prepare monthly closing journal and review accounts reconciliations.
• Monitor monthly inventories aging report for NRV adequacy.
• Control chart of accounts, review consistency, and manage account creation/archiving.
• Review stock take reconciliation and assist in annual policy renewal.
• Support external audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Submit Benefit in Kind (BIK) - Car and Car-related Benefits.
• Handle Annual Statutory Accounts and XBRL. GST and Tax:
• Review GST submission workings and conduct GST reconciliation tests.
• Prepare tax and deferred tax computations for accounting provision.
• Finalize corporate tax computations for review by HO and tax consultants. Fixed Assets and Capex:
• Review and maintain records for capex and fixed asset requisitions.
• Manage the asset register and demo car records for franchises.
• Coordinate with shared services and operations on day-to-day accounting matters.
• Assist in budget and forecast preparation and finalization.
• Maintain SG Insurance Policy master file and coordinate insurance coverage for company assets.
• Implement and test new programs to ensure functionality based on requirements.
• Set up parameters and interfaces in GDMS for new models/franchise.

Requirements:

• Minimum Diploma in Accounting & Finance with 5-6 years' experience
• Minimum Degree in Accounting & Finance with 3-4 years' experience.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• MNC background will be added advantages.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the gathering and analysis of data and information required for each audit assignment planning.
• Assist in gathering evidence for the audit fieldwork to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of business processes and related risk management, internal controls and governance process, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Company’s policies and procedures.
• Assist in the design and application of data analytics techniques (using Excel, ACL, Tableau) in audit assignments.
• Document accurate audit work performed and audit result in a clear and organised manner, supported by audit evidence for review by Team leader.
• Assist in developing and drafting comprehensive audit observations (including root causes and risks) on weaknesses in control environment, and making recommendations for process improvements.
• Assist Team Leader in finalizing the audit findings, recommendations and reports, and collate management responses and action plans to mitigate risk.
• Assist in tracking audit issues identified by Internal Audit and external auditors, and monitor implementation progress of management action plans. Assist in conducting validation review on management remediation actions to address control deficiencies.
• Assist in developing Annual Internal Audit Plan and in the preparation of deliverables such as audit reports and presentation materials to Management and Audit Committee.

Requirements

• GCE "O" Level, NITEC or Diploma in Accounting are welcome to apply
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel and Powerpoint).
• Proactive and adaptable with good organisational and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to details.
