Senior Manager, AI in Medicine Institute (AIMI)

The SingHealth Duke-NUS Artificial Intelligence in Medicine Institute (AIMI) is a joint institute between SingHealth and Duke-NUS Medical School. The Institute has 4 key priority areas:

1. To drive the research and development of cutting-edge AI technologies and their application for healthcare for SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre (AMC)
2. To promote the safe and responsible use of AI
3. To support AI and data education
4. To drive commercial partnership, that can encourage translation and commercialisation of developed technologies.

As the Senior Manager, you will be involved in supporting AI strategy, managing appointed faculty, grant management, grant commercialisation, and AI health publicity. Your key responsibilities include:

• Handling administrative processes and documentation to support the faculty.
• Sourcing and identification of suitable AI grant; managing grant calls, budget, resource management and submission of reports to the grant funding agency.
• Liaising with IP office, regulatory department and commercial partners to facilitate collaboration with industry partners, implementation and commercialisation for AI health projects.
• Supporting education initiatives including managing project/event updates on online portals, organising journal clubs and seminars, identifying suitable platforms for the AI team to showcase their projects
• Working closely with the Group Communications team to develop publicity materials for AI projects

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in either engineering, IT, finance or economics; Master’s or PhD will be advantageous.
• At least 10 years of academia or industry experience in commercial, health, medical or digital (non-medical) technology environment, with at least 4 years of managerial or supervisory experience.
• Understanding and experience in project and budget management in either commercial, banking, technology and healthcare domains
• Prior experience in dealing with industrial partners and collaborators, and in negotiating and completing relevant agreements thereof (research collaboration agreements, licences)
• Ability to work independently as well as contribute proactively as a team player.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Manage full set of accounts, including invoicing, receipt updates, vendor invoice processing, payment arrangements, journal entries, inter-company charges, bank reconciliation, balance sheet schedules, fixed assets registers, and general ledger maintenance
• Manage month-end closing process and ensure all month-end journals, AP, and AR sections are closed promptly
• Perform Internet banking & monthly bank reconciliation
• Preparation of Monthly Financial Statements for Management Reporting
• Preparation of analytical reports to the management team
• Prepare and Review all Balance Sheet Schedule to its control accounts including bank reconciliations
• Prepare Accounts Payable & periodic reconciliation of vendors' statement of accounts
• Assist in year-end audit & preparing audit schedules including liaising with external/internal auditors and tax agents as required
• Handle and ensure compliance with all finance filing requirements, audits, and tax filings
• Assist with forecasting and budgeting exercises.
• Support the implementation of new processes and systems
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Senior Management

Requirements:

• Minimum LCCI/CAT qualifications or equivalent with at least 3 years experience
• Possess strong analytical skills
• Possess excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
• Able to work independently while maintaining a strong team spirit
• Dependable, responsible, initiative, driven, and possess a positive working attitude
• Possess initiative and able to organize and prioritize work
• Able to multi-task, and meticulous with an eye for details
• Able to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• With experience of using accounting software and Microsoft Office

As a member in the Account Receivables, Non-Research Grants and Population Health Programmes Section, you will play an important role in coordination with key stakeholders to support development and implementation of the tailored strategies to improve Population Health and other hospital initiatives that align with national initiatives (e.g. Healthier SG) of transforming healthcare in the Singapore Healthcare landscape.

Your job roles will include but not be limited to the followings:

• Timely preparation of Statements of Income and Expenditure for Heads of Department, Project Directors and/or Funding Agencies, etc.
• Monitor expenditure charged to various Grants and Programmes in accordance with the program objectives.
• Timely claims for reimbursement of expenses funded by third parties.
• Assist and advise Project Directors in preparing budgets for their projects.
• Administering and adhering to the Hospital’s financial processes and controls.
• Timely month-end closing and preparation of schedules.
• Assists in other projects or tasks as assigned by supervisors, targeted towards achieving SGH’s priorities.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Accountancy, Business Administration (major in Accountancy or Finance) or equivalent
• Accounting related working experience will be an advantage
• Proficient in SAP, IT Systems and Microsoft Applications
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
• Systematic and meticulous in work
• Independent worker with the ability to handle tight deadlines
