Job Scope:

You will report to the Branch Manager and will lead a team of ocean freight personnel.

• Manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the ocean freight department and resolve any operational-related problem.
• Lead and supervise the Ocean operation team, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Develop and maintain relationships with shipping lines, port operators, and other key stakeholders.
• Negotiate pricing, services and terms with the approved vendors and co-loaders, to max monthly Ocean GP.
• Coordinate and negotiate with other company oversea stations.
• Participate in existing and new RFQ or any bidding projects when need.
• Implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and service quality.
• Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes affecting ocean freight operations.
• Prepare reports and analyses on department performance for upper management.
• Ensure compliance with all international trade and shipping regulations.
• Support Ocean Business Development and Trade Lane Management.
• Other assignments by management if any.

Requirements:

• Tertiary Education, with freight forwarding (FCL/LCL) experience
• Minimum 5-10 years work-related experience in Ocean Freight Procurement.
• Experience in Tariff management and Tender management
• With Team Leader experience

Job Description

• Support the development of the category strategies and lead sourcing plans and the implementation of those strategies
• Serve as the subject matter expert for the category area and to maintain and develop this knowledge
• Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure the collation of category requirements including spend, demand, supplier performance and service requirements in a logical format
• Be the main point of contact in the resolution of escalated supplier issues and ensure appropriate supplier management and performance metrics have been agreed
• Design sourcing plans and deliver those strategies directly or indirectly as business requires.
• Balances the business needs, company risk and supply market capability to determine the optimum route to deliver maximum value
• Ensure sourcing strategies are aligned to account strategy and client deliverables
• Drive operational compliance in the areas of contract management and insurance certificates
• Manage, in conjunction with account team, the supplier spends to achieve baseline targets including glide path savings
• Deliver sourcing plans in a consistent way and manage the RFx on behalf of the client
• Handle the development, implementation and maintenance of vendor, RFx and other procurement / sourcing related documents and reports
• Build consensus and deliver “buy in” at account level for sourcing strategies. Steer consistent implementation across all sites within the account, acting as central point of contact for solving
• Track, review and report on sourcing project performance, plan implementation and use this information to determine opportunities for further improvement to category strategy definition and target setting
• Define and initiate complexity reduction initiatives and standardisation programs through involvement of all sites
• Manage risk to the account through robust sourcing strategies and sourcing management and by ensuring adherence to corporate compliance, platform and policy
• Ensure delivery of supplier contract and performance management

Requirement

• Relevant Business qualification
• Min 5 to 7 years of detailed knowledge and experience in specific area of expertise (with facilities management background), key drivers and levers, supply base and balance of power
• Professional knowledge of procurement principles and approach including category and sourcing management
• Sound knowledge of corporate regulations and legislation to ensure creation of effective and binding group contracts
• Spend managed effectively and in line with procurement targets
• Leveraging the scale of category spend, managing the risk to the group and delivering category value to the group (cost reductions, improved quality and service)
• Delivery and management of robust and complex sourcing and procurement projects.
• Stakeholder management and adaptable to matrix organisation
