We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to become part of a world class engineering team to lead the Electrical design of our Data Centers across our rapidly expanding Asia Pacific (APAC) portfolio.

We're looking for candidates that share our customer obsession by providing innovative solutions to enhance our market leading reliability. We are looking for engineers with hands on electrical design experience across the project lifecycle from concept design through construction, to commissioning and handover. Amazon has a global presence and a 25% travel will be expected as part of this role. Projects will be throughout the region and a degree of international travel and support will be necessary.

Key job responsibilities
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the following:
• Lead Data center electrical designs in collaboration with other disciplines to create a coordinated construction document set
• Participate in site selection reviews and work with local utilities to understand and define site utility requirements
• Critical Data Center equipment design including site-wide MV infrastructure, Generators, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Switchgear, Transformers and Earthing
• Creation of designs which meet or exceed our quality requirements and fall within our budgetary requirements
• Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate electrical equipment
• Work with local agencies having jurisdiction to ensure compliance with IEC requirements, the various APAC wide design codes and other jurisdictional requirements
• Review and approval of equipment submittals and ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions
• Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during construction phases
• Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems
• Travel to sites for site review and work with onsite field engineers, as well as provide engineering evaluations, electrical systems audits, and startup as needed

Basic qualifications

• Degree in an Electrical Engineering field and 3+ years of experience directly related to data center or mission critical facility design

• Comprehensive understanding of the various code requirements across the APAC region

• Fundamental understanding of critical MV and LV electrical equipment • Detailed understanding of MV system modelling, relays, protections schemes, circuit breakers, power and distribution transformers electrical switchgear, grounding and earthing

Preferred qualifications

• Previous consultant negotiation and management skills associated with design, construction and project execution

• Experience with fast track design/build projects and or multiple significant upgrade projects

• Experience with large scale technical operations or large-scale compute farms and knowledge of building codes and regulations

• Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities and to carry new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment/construction

• The ability to perform complex business case analysis to justify technical decisions and present the justification to management in a high level review

The Workplace Design Guidelines and Standards team is looking for an experienced Senior Design Program Manager with strong cross-functional leadership skills to own the creation, implementation, and ongoing refinement of Amazon’s Global Workplace Design Guidelines and Standards for the APAC (Asia & Pacific). The Workplace Guidelines and Standards team’s mission is to deliver best-in-class, fully-integrated, accessible, and easily navigable documentation supporting the consistent design and delivery of corporate workplaces. This team ensures design practices align with Amazon’s high standards for corporate space, focusing on both innovative solutions and practical application across various design disciplines. As a Sr Design PM, you will have direct responsibility for coordinating with a wide variety of cross-functional partners to develop standards and guidelines to support new design solutions. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert, consulting with Concept Designers and Design & Construction delivery teams. You will integrate constraints and requirements from cross-functional stakeholders into efficient, scalable globally-relevant documentation that is accessible, customer-friendly, and secure. With your global and regional teammates, you will evaluate and prioritize projects in response to customer needs and technical team inputs. You bring most or all of the following to the role:

• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of building codes and accessibility standards.
• Strong behaviors in critical thinking, problem solving, issue resolution, risk assessment, and high attention-to-detail.
• Experience in managing and updating design standards and guidelines on a global scale.

A day in the life
The APAC Sr Program Manager for Workplace Guidelines will develop, publish, and maintain Design Guidelines and Standards. You will mainly collaborate with the Global Design Team’s APAC Design Manager, business team stakeholders, and program owners. Your Global Design counterpart will develop and publish Design Intent documents. You will review those Design Intent documents before they are finalized and act on them to translate the design to visuals and narratives that can be published as Guidelines. You may need to author - or engage a consultant to author - new documents that bridge the gap between what you receive from Design and what needs to be published in the Guidelines. A day in the life might be spent navigating and balancing multiple conversations, written requests, and constraints into visual and written instructions that help execution teams deliver outcomes aligned with Amazon’s high standards for corporate space. The Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) team provides real estate transaction expertise, business partnering, space and occupancy planning, capital investment program management, facility maintenance, and operations in more than 60 countries. GREF is organized into three pillars: Regional Portfolio Management, Global Centers of Enablement, and Global Centers of Expertise. Workplace Design and Construction sits within the Global Centers of Excellence and includes the disciplines of Global Design, Workplace Guidelines, Business Development, Global Integrated Facilities Management, and regional Design and Construction (D&C) delivery.

• 5+ years of design program management experience
• Experience escalating issues, anticipating and making trade-offs, balance the business need versus other constraints and maximize business benefit while building great customer experiences

Architects and Engineers in AWS work to design resilient, cost effective and sustainable DC facilities. As an Architect at Amazon Asia-Pacific Resources Private Limited (Singapore) (AARPL), you will have the opportunity to impact changes in our current design, as well as establish design procedures and protocols for future systems in Singapore.

The Civil, Structural and Architectural (CSA) design team in AARPL is responsible for the building design of all Amazon DCs in Singapore. The CSA team is seeking a senior Architect to become part of our growing APAC team. As a subject matter expert, you will have a direct impact on the design of prototypical DC facilities in Singapore, provide technical guidance to team members, solve large scale implementation issues, site master planning and build a strong understanding of national and international design requirements.

Key job responsibilities
• Work with the other design and engineering professionals on concepts and build projects.
• Manage a portfolio of data center designs and features.
• Development and maintenance of Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for architectural/civil/structural elements.
• Create architectural/civil/structural design RFPs.
• Manage the work of our external architectural/civil/structural design consultants.
• Coordinate with internal and external MEP design engineers.
• Lead initiatives aimed at improving cost, quality, schedule, and consistency.
• Work on multiple data center build and capital improvement projects simultaneously.
• Travel for site assessments, consultant selection activities, internal design meetings, construction review, and to interface with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), design consultants, quantity surveyors, and building owners.

• 10+ years of Industrial Facilities and 5+ years of experience in design of mission critical facilities.

• Vendor and consultant management skills and Solid working proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite.
• Proficiency in building codes, regulations and standards with relevant local councils.

• Master’s degree in Architecture.
• Licensed Architect in an APAC Jurisdiction
• 2+ years of experience in Data Center design.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate the constructability of new technologies, and determine construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
