About the Role
SACA offers the Case Management programme to selected inmate clients that Prisons has identified to serve a part of their sentence in the community. The intention of community-based sentencing options is to better prepare the inmate client for their eventual release thereby increasing their chances of not reoffending.
The Social Worker or Case Manager will offer clients both casework and counselling services to firstly cope with the requirements of the community-based regime he is emplaced on and secondly to help him better adjust to life in the community as productive citizens. The SW or CM reports to a Prog Head and Asst Prog Head.
Technical Competencies:
Ability to engage clients to think about post-release service plans
Ability to motivate clients to work towards their return, reintegration into society
Some knowledge or experience in forensic work will be an advantage
Degree in Social Work, Counselling, or Psychology required
Core Competencies:
Ability to engage and motivate people
Strong belief in 2nd Chances and in the ability of people to change
Mature individual
Preferred achievements / characteristics:
Must possess good knowledge of local culture and customs
Ability to converse fluently in a 2nd language (Malay, Tamil or Mandarin) will be a significant advantage due to the nature of the client group
At least 2 years work experience
