About the Role of Community Social Worker

The Community Social Worker is responsible for facilitating change and improving the lives of individuals, families and community facing transitional challenges through the provision of community centric approach interventions. About Us:

The Program in Translational and Clinical Liver Cancer Research is a dynamic team within the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) that conducts leading clinical and translational research in primary liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)). Nested within the program is the Secretariat of the Asia-Pacific Hepatocellular Carcinoma (AHCC) Trials Group. The AHCC Trials Group is a collaborative multi-national research network that spans across the Asia Pacific region, and actively engages in a spectrum of clinical trials translation research and clinical trials that ultimately aim address unmet clinical needs of HCC.

Job Description:

This role is ideal for a motivated individual who enjoys thinking and managing projects independently but also as a team player.

You will be part of an active research management team that closely works with other teams in clinical research coordination, wet laboratory and bioinformatics. The Program encompasses a wide range of of biomedical research from upstream and translational studies to prospective multi-site clinical studies. There will be opportunities to develop a deep understanding of the biomedical ecosystem, and to work with key scientific opinion leaders, and pharmaceutical and biotech industry partners both locally and overseas. You will be involved in conceptualizing and executing large multi-site research studies and to develop a network of industry and academic contacts. Some of the Key Responsibilities Include:

- Coordinating and engaging various internal and external stakeholders in the management of multi-institution and/or multi-national collaborations.

- Initiating and supporting research activities including (but not limited to) research grant applications, SOP development, and project budgeting.

- Providing of necessary resources that ensure compliance of regulatory/contractual documents and smooth project operations.

- Organizing and preparing materials for regular update meetings with collaborators.

As part of the Good Life Services team, the Child Protective Service (CSO) leads in implementation of child protection policies and processes to safeguard the safety and well-being of children and young persons in Rainbow Centre services and programmes. The postholder will work in close partnership with families and other colleagues, as well as stakeholders such as volunteers, vendors and other community partners.

Critical Work Functions

Deliver Child Protection Services

• Act as the first point of contact for all RC staff to get in touch with regards to child safe matters, including sharing about observations of potential risks to child safety.
• Conduct investigations received about child safety and risk of maltreatment, which involves conducting interviews with the child and involved parties to assess the level of harm or future risk of harm
• Provide support to the client and/or the family during the course of investigation

Develop and Implement Prevention Initiatives

• Implement the Rainbow Centre Child Protection Policy and procedures
• Closely monitor and proactively review the policy and procedures to ensure relevance and its fit for purpose
• Track organisational data and trends in relation to child safety and translates into recommendations to address potential gaps
• Remain up to date and compliant with all relevant legislation, organisational procedures, policies and professional codes of conduct in order to uphold standards of best practice

Engagement and Outreach

• Encourage good practice by promoting and championing the child protection policy and procedures
• Conduct regular outreach to units and programmes to educate staff, volunteers, caregivers, and vendors about child safety, including educating the respective roles and responsibilities pertaining to it

Job Holder Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or Psychology
• Experience in working with vulnerable children and families or with investigative experience in social service settings is an added advantage.
