MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Research Officer will assist the Principal Investigators (PI) to oversee the smooth running and tracking progress of clinical research studies related activities and project. This include:
- Perform DNA extraction, sample quality control, prepare sequencing libraries and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) on clinical samples
- Collate multiple datasets and perform statistical analysis (not restricted to regression) for molecular (genomic and blood biomarker) epidemiology studies
- Perform bio-banking and cataloguing of biological samples
- To work closely with clinical research coordinators, scientist and other stakeholders
- To assist PI in project management and administration for multiple research projects, including ethics review applications to NHG DSRB
- To maintain clinical studies documentation in accordance with quality requirements
- • To assist PI with report generation, scientific meeting/conference presentations
- To produce high quality research reports, presentation and assist PI in publications
- Supervise and mentor internship studies
- To assist the PI in other day-to-day tasks as required
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in biomedical science or Diploma in life science with at least 5 years’ experience in relevant field
- Experience in Molecular Assays (DNA extraction, polymerase chain reaction [PCR], qPCR) and Immuno assay (ELISA)
- Hands on experience in NGS workflow and data analysis
- Excellent academic writing and communication skills
- Able to work independently as well as with a team
Desirable
- Experience of developing research projects and bringing them to successful completion
- Relevant experience using analysis large epidemiological cohort studies
- Experience in using statistical analysis tools (e.g. STATA or R)
- Experience in Genomic DNA methylation will be added advantage
