The Climate Transformation Programme (CTP) aims to develop, inspire and accelerate knowledge-based solutions and educate future leaders to establish the stable climate and environment necessary for resilient, just, and sustainable Southeast Asian societies.

CTP will generate knowledge and innovation across disciplines including climate and Earth science, ecology, materials science, artificial intelligence, humanities, social sciences and the arts, finance, health, and engineering. It will also translate state-of-the-art scientific results into real world solutions for Singapore, and it will transfer these solutions to Southeast Asia (SEA) and beyond.

Project Information: The main objective of this project is to synthesize work on interventions that have been designed to level-up students who face difficulties in literacy, numeracy, and well-being from Primary to Secondary levels, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds or with special needs. By means of a PRISMA framework, we will conduct a systematic literature search and screening to identify eligible articles for each topic. A preliminary literature search will be conducted to estimate the amount of literature on each topic. As approach to synthesize the literature, we will use an umbrella review for each topic, i.e., focusing on meta-synthesis, synthesis, and review literature. The findings will allow the identification of effective interventions for each topic in facing challenges throughout the students’ school period.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee animal care, equipment and ARF-RSB facility team to meet the needs of LKCMedicine and SBS scientific communities.

• Responsible for developing, timely updating and communicating all standard operating procedures. This includes the acquisition and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
• Ensure compliance to IACUC protocols and ethics to safeguard animal welfare.
• Involve in conducting animal facility inspections as appropriate, including tracking and reporting statistics for Singapore agencies to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements..

2. Management and Administration of budgets for ARF

• Preparation, submission and presentation of the annual budgets for the NTU ARFs (LKCMedicine and RSB) to senior management of LKCMedicine and NTU.
• Work closely with ARF-RSB administrative leads to track budget utilization and achieve accurate marksmanship annually.
• Streamline and align ARF administration work such as procurement, with NTU policy and best practices in collaboration with ARF-RSB administrative leads.

3. Management of expanded suite of specialized services for the research community

• Design and develop in-house expanded scope of specialized service offerings tailored to the needs of the research community.
• Collaborate with principal investigators, veterinarian support staff, regulatory committees and industry partners to ensure the service meet high standards and industry requirements.
• Engage with external stakeholders including industry collaborators to promote and maximize the utilization of facility’s specialized services.
• Develop in-house capabilities including upskilling of staff to deliver the expanded suite of specialized services and keep pace with industry advancements and emerging research needs.

4. Fulfil and maintain accreditation standards to ensure compliance with professional accreditation regulations

• Responsible for maintaining all applicable accreditations standards for the care and use of laboratory animals at NTU.
• Ensure compliance with professional accreditation regulations, including regular reviews and updates to meet evolving standards.

5. Oversee planning and execution of activities and events relating to ARF

• Planning of research activities including the monthly ARF seminar series established at LKCMedicine to ensure that the NTU ARFs are aligned with current and/or planned resources.
• Participate in institutional committees as NTU ARF-RSB‘s representative, contributing to the development and alignment of research initiatives.

Requirements

• Veterinary Medical Degree (DVM or VMD) or PhD in Biomedical sciences. Diplomate status within the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DACLAM) is desirable, but not required.
• At least 15 years’ experience working in an Animal Facility at the managerial and leadership level in managing and directing vivarium operations, including animal husbandry, preventative veterinary care, diagnosis, treatment, and control of disease, animal surgery and postoperative care, euthanasia, and necropsy.
• Documented experience in directing a complex animal resources program and awareness of Biological Agents and Toxins Act requirements in Singapore.
• Must be experienced in managing the operational needs of an animal facility including working with the staff and users.

We are seeking a pedagogically minded and dedicated Senior Learning Strategist / Learning Strategist. Reporting to the Learning Strategist Manager, the appointee collaborates with faculties to design and develop cutting-edge blended learning experiences, providing strategic guidance for implementing innovative digital teaching and learning practices across NIE.

Additionally, the appointee will work closely with fellow Learning Strategists and the other teams in the department to research, develop, and present innovative and pedagogically sound design solutions to stakeholders, in pursuit of enhanced practice and outcomes. The candidate should be familiar with the training and adult education landscape, be adept at facilitation and possess a commitment to staying up to date on higher education best practices. This is a 2-year contract position.

Responsibilities

Build Evidence-Based Innovation in Teaching & Learning within NIE

a) Collaborate with fellow Learning Strategists to:

• Research adult learning theories, strategies, data, and appropriate educational technology tools to design, develop, and facilitate impactful face-to-face and online tech-enhanced workshops for faculty.
• Assess the learning needs of IN-Learning specialists in learning design and emerging technology.
• Design, develop, and facilitate engaging initiatives to support IN-Learning specialists in building their expertise in learning design and emerging technology.

b) Collaborate with NIE faculty to:

• Identify learning needs for courses they teach.
• Propose frameworks, new/enhanced learning outcomes, tech-enabled teaching and learning strategies, and assessments as part of course redesigning.
• Propose appropriate educational technology to overcome gaps and enhance the learning outcomes of the courses.
• Achieve constructive alignment of the learning outcomes with the learning activities and assessment in their courses.

c) Collaborate with cross-functional teams to:

• Assess faculty capability development needs through qualitative and quantitative data analysis, to inform their work in designing, developing, and evaluating learner-centered blended learning experiences and fostering assessment literacy.
• Research, develop and present evidence-based and innovative design solutions with the project team to stakeholders.
• Research and evaluate frameworks and educational technology tools for implementation to optimize and innovate teaching, learning and assessment practices in NIE.
• Research, write grant proposals and develop tech-enabled learning solutions.
• Work together on initiatives with IN-Learning's Engagement, Planning and Research team to share learning sciences knowledge and improve practices institute-wide.
• Carry out action research by:
• conceptualizing frameworks and methodologies
• designing evaluation instruments
• gathering and analyzing data (e.g. Learning Analytics)
• formulating decisions to improve the effectiveness of learning experiences and our Capability Development initiatives
• Contribute to special projects on teaching and learning, as required.

Keep Up with Learning Sciences and Innovative Teaching and Learning Practices

• Stay current on learning sciences, innovative teaching and learning practices in higher education (e.g., personalized learning, adaptive learning, e-assessment, hybrid learning, learning analytics, and Artificial Intelligence).
• Foster a culture of continuous learning within the team by providing opportunities for professional development and encouraging knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• A University degree, preferably in Instructional Design, Education or Learning Sciences and Technologies. A master’s degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in instructional design, teaching and learning, within a higher educational setting or with adult learners. Proven ability to manage successful learning projects.
• To be considered for the Senior Learning Strategist position, candidates should:
• Possess at least 5 years of experience in instructional design, teaching, learning, and the adult education landscape.
• Possess a proven track record of managing complex learning projects.
• Demonstrate experience in a mentorship role and in leading complex projects.
• Expert knowledge of applying Adult Learning theories in the design of Blended Learning experiences.

Overview

The Natural Sciences and Science Education Academic Group (NSSE AG) at the National Institute of Education in Singapore is committed to discovery and innovation in sciences and science education. Comprising faculty from both science content and pedagogical disciplines, we adopt an inter-disciplinary approach to teaching and research. Requirements

Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to:

• Conceptualize, teach and grade pre-service and in-service courses in Curriculum Studies (e.g., pedagogy/methods, assessment, curriculum) in Biological Sciences Education, and graduate level courses in Science Education.
• Supervise student teachers in practicum attachments and course assignments, and supervise MEd/PhD students. Involvement in course coordination will be required.
