Centre for Lifelong Learning and Individualised Cognition CLIC is a research collaboration between the University of Cambridge and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and hosted by the Cambridge Centre for Advanced Research and Education in Singapore (CARES) that aims to develop neuroscience-based interventions for lifelong flexible learning. Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible to and work closely with Dr Mohammad Alfatah to provide support in research projects with a specific focus on discovering chemical (drugs, natural products, metabolites, etc) and genetic anti-aging interventions. This includes assessing the effectiveness of potential compounds in various age-related disease models.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform daily basic chemical and genetic high-throughput screening in yeast and human cells, molecular biology experiments related to DNA, RNA, protein and cell culture work.
2. Conduct literature searches, experimental plans, and data analysis independently and reliably.
3. Oversee the general management of the lab including managing inventories of chemical, cell lines and instruments.
4. Provide administrative support to the project, maintain communication and collaboration with other members of the research team.
5. Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Science, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
• Able to work independently and in a team as well, self-motivated with initiative and keen to learn new techniques.
• Previous experience in laboratory work, particularly in cell culture and in molecular biology techniques is preferred.
• Experience in bioinformatics, particularly with programming skills in Python and R, would be a plus.

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant in the Centre for Behavioural and Implementation Science Interventions (BISI), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The centre aims to improve population health and well-being and healthcare delivery by accelerating evidence-based practice through the use of behavioural and implementation science. Purpose of the post

The incumbent will work closely with the principal investigator (PI) to support research in BISI and contribute to the centre’s research and education strategies. He/she would be the point of contact between staff, external parties (i.e. stakeholders, collaborators) and the PI. He/she will work with a team of researchers and admin staff on a regular basis to assist with research projects.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

This is a regular full-time position of which the contract is renewable, subject to performance.

The key job responsibilities are as follow:

1. Assist with research administration to ensure that research and related activities are performed in accordance with institutional regulations and sponsoring agency policies and procedures, including preparation of ethics and other regulatory/institutional documents and maintenance of PI file as required.
