The Early Intervention for Children (EIC) Services helps equip children with motor, communication, social, self-help and cognitive skills. THK EIC involves structuring classes around small groups encompassing early childhood special education, social work and therapy support services to stimulate their adaptive functioning and school readiness skills.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist Lead Teacher in classroom and engagement of children
• Conduct small group activities when required e.g. routines such as CIrcle Time
• Assist Lead Teacher in carrying out therapeutic interventions as instructed

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Music teacher you will be required to efficiently and effectively support the Music Department in its delivery of high quality teaching and learning. You are required to be a highly collaborative, innovative and reflective practitioner who follows an inquiry based approach to create learning experiences that engage and challenge all learners. Candidates should be keen to integrate music into all aspects of school life, participating in many extra curricular activities and events.

Experience of teaching the PYP or other inquiry based Curriculum is an advantage. As is experience of, or the ability to teach music across the whole of Primary School (including Early Years).

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A TYPICAL DAY

My day starts at 8am, although like my colleagues, I often arrive earlier to get set up for the day. I am teaching 4 out of a possible 5, 60 minute lessons today across different year groups. The school really supports me in thinking outside the box to creatively develop new and exciting learning opportunities in different learning environments. As it is the start of the year, I am really working hard to learn all the names, make a connection with every learner and build learning-focused relationships. At lunchtime I have a duty in the cafeteria and talk to the learners about their day. The teaching day finishes at 3.25pm and today I am running an after-school activity with technical lego in the Makerspace as this is a passion of mine! After I return the learners to the cafeteria to be picked up, I head back to my learning area to collaborate on some planning, complete some marking and check my emails. I am looking forward to the forthcoming Learning trip and will pop to the nearby shops on the way home to get some equipment ready for the trip.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• A relevant degree plus teaching qualification (or equivalent)
• Higher degree or recognised professional qualification (preferred)
• Evidence of continued relevant professional development
• Experience in teaching learners with diverse needs
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in an international school environment where the school curriculum focused on PYP, MYP, IBDP and/or UK (preferred)
